Felicity didn’t get to sleep the night before until 11:30 P.M. She was so tired because she had to get up at 8:00 A.M., get ready for work, be down to breakfast by nine, and get to work at ten.
“I’m so tired,” Felicity said.
“Why?” Mrs. Charte asked.
“Rose and Violet snored all night and Rose also talked in her sleep and Violet was walking around all night long,” Felicity said.
“I didn’t hear anything,” Mrs. Charte said.
“Violet didn’t walk around last night, Felicity,” Rose said. “Besides, I was right next to her!”
“And Rose doesn’t snore,” Violet said. “I was right next to her too.”
“That’s enough!” Mrs. Charte said. “Get to work.”
Finally, it was time for lunch. This time, it was good. It was buffalo meat, biskets, and water.
“This is very good,” Rose said.
“Tell me about it,” Violet said.
“Can you s just shut up for one hour?!” Felicity shouted. “I’m sick of you two s talking! You talked all the from school to the hotel, Rose, you walk in your sleep, Violet, you snore, and you both are talking too much!”
Felicity took her dishes up to the window and went back to work.
“What’s with her?” Rose asked.
“She didn’t get much sleep last night because you s were snoring, talking in your sleep, and you did walk around the room,” Mrs. Charte said.
“My parents say that I don’t snore,” Violet said.
“I had a test done and the results came back saying I don’t talk in my sleep,” Rose said.
All the s went back to work. When they returned to their rooms, they showered and had free time. Felicity cheecked her e-mail and sent one to Samantha and Kirsten.
“Dear Sam Kirsten; today was a little better, but I’m tired. You see, Rose talked in her sleep, Violet walked around our room, and both snored all night long. I guess it was from the pizza we had or something. Today’s job was to rip out wet carpet and install the carpet or wood flooring the families ordered. I helped out with the taring out of the carpet and installing a new oak wood flooring, it smelled so good. I hear Mrs. Charte calling me. Bye, Felicity.”
That night for supper was hamburgers or cheese burgers with baked beans.
“I hope that Violet and Rose don’t snore tonight,” Felicity said.
That night, when it was 11:00 P.M., Rose and Violet were snoring, walking around the roo, and talking in their sleep.
“Just what I need right now,” Felicity said to herself. “It must be the cheese and/or beans.”
Then she fell asleep.

Before Samantha went down to breakfast, she checked her e-mail. She couldn’t believe it, Mrs. Bluee, Mrs. Gamee, and Mrs. Blok knew that she had her laptop with. She put her laptop away and went to breakfast.

When she was finish, she went back to the second floor for her devostions. When it was time work, she was with Mrs. Bluee.

“Mrs. Bluee?” Samantha asked.

“Yes,” she answered.

“Do you know about me bringing my laptop?”

“Yes, why?”

“Kirsten e-mailed me about you, Mrs. Gamee, and Mrs. Blok knowing about me bringing my computer.”

“Yes dear. Mrs Smith told me that.”

“Now that we have that clear, keep raking.”

About five minutes later, Mrs. Gamee said that she needed six or seven girls to go with her. Samantha went along with Jane (just to annoy her), Kit, Darian, Anna, Lindsey, and Danielle.

“You girls, or at least five of you, get to paint pipes up in our room, or at least the red or the chipped paint ones. Who wants to paint?”

“I will,” Sam said.

“Me too,” Jane said in a mocking voice.

“I’ll help,” Anna said.

“Me three,” said Lindsey.

“Count me in,” Kit said.

“That leaves Darian and Danielle to move the ladders with wheels,” Mrs. Gamee said. “You have to put a coat on today and tomorrow.”

“Will do,” said all five girls.

“Who wants to go on the moving ladders?” Danielle asked.

“I will,” Sam said.

“I’ll go with Samantha,” Jane said in a mocking voice.

“I want Jane to switch with Darian,” Sam said.

“No!” Darian said. “I hate hights!”

“Danielle?” Sam asked.

“No,” Danielle said. “I hate hights too.”

“Great!”

“Yea, I’m with Sam,” Jane shouted.

“I’ll go with Sam,” Kit said.

“Good,” Samantha said.

“I guess I’ll go on the single ladder!” Jane said.

“Lindsey will go with me on the other ladder,” Anna said.

The girls painted ’til they got all the chipped paint and red pipes. They got done after lunch. When they were done, they went to help with sorting food.

“Hey Kit,” Sam said.

“What?”

“Thanks.”

“For what?”

“Painting with me instead of Jane painting with me.”

“It was no big deal.”

“For me it was.”

“Why?”

“Jane and I don’t get along very well.”

“Ok.”

As they were sorting though food, Samantha felt wierd.

“Are you ok Samantha?” Mrs. Bluee asked.

“No,” Samantha said, “my body hurts and my head hurts.”

“Go up and sleep,” Mrs. Bluee said. “You might feel better if you rest.”

When she got to her bed, she reached for her laptop. She typed her e-mail and went to sleep.

“Dear Kirsten and Felicity; we girls were raking today for about fifteen minutes and then Mrs. Gamee wanted seven girls to go paint pipes. I was one of them. The others were Jane, Kit, Danielle, Darian, Anna, and Lindsey. Jane wanted to go on the same ladder to paint as me. Then Kit comes to the rescue and she puts Jane on the single person ladder. Danielle and Darian pushed the ladders with wheels around and Jane had to push her own ladder around, but it didnt have wheels. After we put the first layer of paint on, we went down to the food shelf room to help sort the food. Then, about thirty minutes later, I started to feel weird and I still do. Mrs. Bluee wants me to sleep before dinner. Bye, Samantha.”

Sam fell right to sleep and Mrs. Bluee came to check on her about an hour later and Sam was fast asleep. Samantha slept for three hours, but still felt bad. After supper, she understood what made her sick, sugar. She stopped eating pie and didn’t drink any pop for the rest of the night. When it was time for bed, she went right to sleep without going down stairs to warm up a glass of milk.

Kirsten’s bus pulled up to the hotel that they were going to stay in.

“This hotel is so huge!” Kirsten exclaimed.

“It’s so fancy too,” Addy said.

“You have to be rich to her with a big family,” Daisy said (Daisy was right behind Kirsten and Addy).

“Your family’s rich, right Daisy?” Viola asked.

“Yep. And I’ve been here before with my family of eight.” Daisy said.

“Listen up s, there will be three s and one teacher per room ,” said the bus driver. “The first group will with Mrs. Smith. The three s are: Kirsten, Daisy, and Viola.”

“Oh no, I’m stuck with the two snobs of the school,” Kirsten thought.

“The second group will be with Mrs. Fast: Sarah, Stephine, and Taylor (Taylor is a in this story).” said the bus driver. “The third group will be with Mrs. Harder: Haliey, Allison, and Ellie, the forth group will be with Miss Woode: Annie, Gina, and Laura, and group five will be with me, Mrs. Youth and Ms. Olin: Kay, Kim, and Kathleen.”

“I’m so glad that we’re together in the same room Viola!” Daisy said.

“Why couldn’t my friends be in the same group as me?” Kirsten wondered.

“Cheer up Kirsten,” Mrs. Smith said. “It’ll be a fun week. And besides, you’re with me.”

“I just don’t want to be Daisy and Viola,” Kirsten told her. “I just want to be with Felicity and Samantha.”

“You know what?” asked Mrs. Smith.

“What?” Kirsten asked.

“You can e-mail them.”

“I know, but…” Kirsten began

“But what?”

“Never mind,” Kirsten said.

Mrs. Smith said, “I know that you packed your lap top.”

“How did you know?” Kirsten asked.

“I heard you talking with your friends and heard that you like the idea about you s taking your lap tops. So I asked that you would come with me when we left for Mission Trips and that Mrs. Charte would have Felicity with her and that Sam would go to Sioux Falls ’cause I wanted you girls to talk about what happened each day.”

“So, does Mrs. Arndt know about us taking our lap tops with?” Kirsten asked.

“No, but Mrs. Charte knows and Mrs. Bluee and Mrs. e and Mrs. Blok.”

“They wouldn’t get in trouble will they?”

“No. They promised not to dissipline them for just talking to you.”

“Thanks for telling me this,” Kirsten said.

“Here’s our room, Daisy, you and Viola get this bed, Kirsten, you’re with me, but you get the side with the window,” Mrs. Smith said.

The s got ready for work and loaded the bus. There were five places. The groups would do that week, one place a day. First, Mrs. Smith and her group were to clean the streets off. They had to pick up garbage and throw it away and recycled what needed to be recycled.

After work, the s and teachers showered. Right before the small groups had supper, they had free time. Kirsten styaed in her room and wrote an e-mail to Felicity and Samantha.

“Dear Felicity and Sam; We pulled into Fargo about 3:00 P.M. We’re staying in a hotel that is a ten- story building and the owner of the hotel made a deal that the school only had to pay twenty dollars per room, and theres only five rooms that we’re using. The teacher that I’m with is Mrs. Smith. The other two s are Daisy and Viola. Sam, you said that Jane was bugging you, but who got Jane to stop bugging you? Felicity, you said that you’re stuck with Rose and Violet, but are you glad that you have Mrs. Charte, I’m glad that you do. Sam, who are your leaders over there? When I got off the bus, Mrs. Smith came over and told me that she knew that we packed our laptops. She even told your leaders that you packed them, Mrs. Arndt doesn’t know that you packed them. Mrs. Smith said that she wanted us to talk about our days on the Mission Trips. Hey Sam, did you like the mac & cheese with hotdogs? Tell me in the next e-mail. Today, we (my group) had to clean the streets off. We had to throw garbage away and recycle what was glass, plastic, paper, and aluminum. When we were doing our jobs, guess what, Daisy said ‘I broke a nail!’ I laughed and even Mrs. Smith laughed. I didn’t care that she broke a nail because it’s just a nail, it’ll grow back. Hey Sam, the part that you said about Jane at the Falls was really funny. I laughed so hard that I rolled off my bed and turned red in my face for laughing so hard. Mrs. Smith even asked me why I was rolling on the floor, so I showed her the e-mail, she even started to laugh, but not rolling on the floor. I need to go eat, so chat with you later. Your best friend, Kirsten.”

Kirsten put her laptop away and went down to the first floor (they’re on the forth floor). They had cheese burgers of hamburgers.

“Take a look at my nail, Viola,” Daisy said, “I can’t believe that Mrs. Smith and Kirsten started to laugh at me when my nail broke.”

“Yeah, that’s just mean,” Viola said in a snobby voice.

“It’s just a nail, it’ll grow back,” said Kirsten.

Mrs. Smith added, “Yeah, besides, it’s like hair, it grows.”

Daisy said, “I can’t believe it, one of my roommates and my teacher act like it’s no big deal.”

“It is no big deal Daisy,” Annie said.

“Yeah, it’s just a nail,” Allison said.

“Why, my own classmates even act like it’s no big deal,” Daisy said.

Haliey said, “Just listen to us, it’s just a nail, it’ll grow back.”

“Leave me alone all of you!” Daisy shouted.

“You’re not paitents enough, Daisy,” Ellie said.

Daisy ran out of the room with the key to the room which she took from Mrs. Smith’s hand. Viola followed behind.

“I can’t believe that she cares that much for her nails,” Kirsten said to Mrs. Smith.

“I’ll go talk to her,” Mrs. Smith said.

“But she has the key,” Kirsten said.

“I always have a spare on me,” Mrs. Smith said.

“I’ll come with,” Kirsten said.

Mrs. Smith and Kirsten went to their room and when they got there, Mrs. Smith put the key in and opened it. When they looked in, they saw the packing their belongings.

“What do you think you’re doing?” asked Mrs. Smith.

“We’re going home,” Daisy said.

“Yeah, I called my parents and they ordered bus tickets back to St. James, MN,” Viola said.

“You can’t just leave,” Kirsten said, “just because we said stuff about your nail breaking, Daisy, doesn’t mean the Viola has to call her parents and tell them that you want to come home. Your parents pay money to keep in the school. And, I’m sorry for what I said. Will you forgive me?”

“Why are you saying this stuff to us?” Viola asked.

“Because I love you. You guys are like sisters to me in Christ,” Kirsten said.

That night, before it was time for bed, Mrs. Smith said, “I’m proud of you for saying those things today Kirsten. Your parents would be pleased.”

That night, Kirsten thought about the Saturday night devostion about love. She had pleased God, Jesus, and even Mrs. Smith. Then she fell asleep.

Felicity’s bus pulled into the hotel’s parking lot about 8:30 A.M. It was a cloudy day.

“What are we doing here?” asked Felicity.

“Just be quiet and listen to the driver!” a girl said in back of her. It was Violet Bake, a popular girl in school.

“What do you want Vi?” asked Felicity.

“I want you to be quiet!” Violet said.

“We are here in the parking lot or the ‘Super 8′ hotel ’cause this is where you’ll be staying while you’re here,” the bus driver said.

“I thought that we’re staying in Browns Valley,” said a girl named Rose (Rose was sitting with Violet).

“There’s no hotel in Browns Valley Rose,” said Mary (a girl behind Rose and Violet). “Besides, if there was one, it would have ben destroyed due to the flood, dummie.”

“You don’t say mean words about each other Mary,” said Mrs. Charte. “Do you understand?”

“Yes Mrs. Charte,” Mary said.

The girls unloaded the bus and went to their rooms. Felicity was with Mrs. Charte, Rose, and Violet. The girls got ready for work and loaded the bus.

When the girls had their showers, Felicity wrote an e-mail to her friends.

“Dear Best Friends; we pulled up to the hotel that we’re staying in. It is about 10-20 miles from Browns Valley. Violet and Rose were right next to me and they were being snobs like usuale. Guess what, I’m stuck with those two in the same room. They get to share a bed with each other while I share a bed with Mrs. Charte. I’m just glad that Rose and Violet don’t hog the bathroom by putting make-up on and doing their hair and taking long showers. Mrs. Charte doesn’t put make-up on and do her hair in a fancy way. Mrs. Green has Mary, Riley, and Eve. Miss Polee has Morgan, Molly, and Darian. Ms. Cole has Elizabeth, Abby, and Kaya. And Mrs. Foxx has Josefina, Abby (Abby is Mrs. Foxx’s daughter), and Kit. I don’t want Mrs. Charte find out that I’m typying you girls an e-mail. I better head to supper. Your best friend, Felicity.”

After supper, the girls and teachers played “Mophia.” Felicity knew how much Samantha and Kirsten loved that game. Later, it was time for bed.

Samantha’s bus arrived in Sioux Falls about 3:00 P.M. The bus went past the falls.

“It will be about five mineuts before we get to the shelter,” said the bus driver.

“I can’t wait ’till we get to the shelter!” Sam exclaimed.

“Me either,” said a behind her. That was Jane Mape. She was one of the smartest and snobbiest in the entire school.

“What do you want Jane?” asked Sam.

“You didn’t know that I was in your group? Shame on you!” said Jane.

“No,” said Samantha.

“Leave Sam alone Jane!” said Lindsey.

“And why?” asked Jane.

“The principle said that we had to be kind to everyone,” said Lindsey.

“Well, who’s going to stop me?” asked Jane.

“You better stop Miss Jane or you will be sent back home,” said Mrs. Bluee.

“You should leave her alone,” Mrs. e said.

“You need to listen,” Mrs. Blok said.

“Just sit down and be quiet,” said Mrs. Bluee.

“Yes Mrs. Bluee,” said Jane quietly. “Like I will.”

The rest of the ride was nice. When the bus pulled into the parking lot, the s were quiet.

“Listen up!” said the bus driver. “Make sure that you have all your things. If you don’t, you wouldn’t have them for the rest of the week.”

“You’re going back to St. Paul?” asked Anna.

“Yes,” said Mrs. Bluee.

The s had a tour of the shelter and then took their things up to their room. They were in the same room as the women and children. Mrs. e and Mrs. Blok had to seperate any s that didn’t get along very well.

“I want the bed next to Mrs. Bluee!” shouted Samantha.
“No I do!” shouted Jane.
“I want to seperate you Jane and Samantha! Jane, you go to the bed at the end of our section, Samantha, you get the bed next to mine,” Mrs. Bluee called to Samantha.
“Alright,” said Sam.
“That way you can be right next Anna and Lindsey,” Mrs. Bluee said.
“Alright!” said all three.
Later that night after Sam had taken her shower, she wrote an e-mail to Felicity and Kirsten.
Dear Best Friends; we pulled into Sioux Falls about 3:00 P.M. When we were five mineuts away from the shelter, Miss Snobby Jane said in a mocking voice ‘Me either’ and I looked back, and it was her. I turned red in my faceand said ‘What do you want Jane?’ and she said ‘You didn’t know I was in your group? Shame on you!’ I was so mad, but it was true, I didn’t know that she was in my group because I didn’t look at the list and I didn’t pay any attion to the rest of the list because I was the first on called. We worked hard today. After we took our belongings to our room and chose our beds, we put muffins in bags of six, then we washed windows. I’m just lucky that Jane didn’t come over with the hose and spray me. After we washed windows, we took our showers and went to chapel. We also sevred supper their supper and after we surved them, we had the same meal as the homeless, mac and cheese with hotdogs. After we ate supper, it was still light out and so we went to the Falls. It was great! There was so much foam that the Falls were making, I got some on my pants. Once, I tell you, that moments was so funny, the girls that were on the grass, were laughing their heads off and rolling around. Jane got foam in her mouth. I even laughed, but not so hard because I some rocks that were right next to the Falls. It was so funny. I better go down stairs and play with the girls. I miss you. Your best friend, Sam.”
After Samantha sent the e-mail, Mrs. Bluee came up. Samantha quickly put her lap top in her suitcase, zipped it up, locked it, and slid it under her bed.

“What are you up to Sam?” asked Mrs. Bluee.

“Nothing much,” she said. “Whats going on downstairs?”

“They’re playing ‘Catch Pharse,’” Mrs. Bluee said.

“I’ll go down and play,” Samantha said.

“Have fun,” Mrs. Bluee said.

Samantha went down with the rest of the girls and just about had the timer go off on her five times. As she was playing, she was thinking how much Felicity and Kirsten would love to play. Then it was time for bed.

It came time for Mission Trips. The s were split into five groups of twenty. Group One would go to Sioux Falls, SD, Group Two would go to Duluth, MN, Group Three would leave for Browns Valley, MN, Group Four well leave for Fargo, ND, and Group Five will stay in St. Paul, MN. Group One will work at the homeless shelter to help clean up, Group Two will help with cleaning the ships and help clean up after the spring snow, Group Three will help with flood relief after the flood on the Minnesota River, Group Four will leave for Fargo, ND, and help with flood relief along the Red River, and Group Five will work at the State Capitol and help clean it all up.

The three s were in different groups. Samantha was in Group One, Felicity was in Group Three, and Kirsten was in Group Two.

“I wish that we were in the same group,” said Sam.

“Me too,” Felicity said.

“We can write about what happenes in the journals that I gave you, ” Kirsten said.

“That’s a great idea,” said Felicity. “But, we’re going to have to wait ’till the end of the week.”

“We can take our lap tops!” exclaimed Sam.

“Great idea Samantha! We’ll have to hide them when we’re working,” Kirsten said.

“We better pack,” said Felicity.

The day came for the groups to leave for their destinations.

“Bye,” said all three girls.

“Have fun in Sioux Fall Samantha,” said Felicity.

“You have fun in Browns Valley,” said Kirsten.

“You have fun cleaning the Capitol Building,” said Felicity and Samantha.

“Don’t forget to e-mail every night,” Kirsten said.

“I wouldn’t forget,” said Felicity.

“I might,” said Samantha.

The two girls stared at her.

“Just kidding!” Sam joked.

The three girls laughed at the joke that Sam said. Then the girls loaded the buses.

The s got dressed and their dates came and got ready (’cause the s are already dressed).

“Wow,” said Frank, “you’re so beautiful.” (remember, Frank is with Felicity.”

“You too Sam.” said Samuel (Samuel is with Samantha).

“Thank-you.” said both s.

“Where is Kirsten?” asked Kyle (Kyle is with Kirsten).

“I’m right here.” she said.

“Wow,” said Kyle, “you’re so…beautiful.” he said.

(Remember, Samantha’s dress is blue with stars that glitterand with two thin straps, Felicity’s is white with red and pink roses with one thick strap on her right shoulder, and Kirsten’s is purple that is glittery with white and pink roses, violets, and other flowers with no straps.

The six went to the dance and had a great time. After the dance, the s and their boyfriends went to a romantic restaurant and had a romantic dinner of soup, salad, bread-sticks, and dessert. After that, the s and their boyfriends went back to the school were the boys spent the night (sense it was a Saturday the next day). Frank, Kyle, and Samuel slept in the gym with other boys on cots that were provided for them and they didn’t go to bed ’till 12:30 A.M.
